Our current infrastructure comprises servers equipped with 2-4x 10/25GB network capability, alongside storage devices boasting 40/100GB connectivity, utilizing U.2 Flash storage technology for optimal performance. Predominantly, our environment operates on the ESXi platform. To ensure the smooth execution of backup, migration, and disaster recovery processes, we aim to establish a robust backbone with a network speed of 25GB+.
Furthermore, we plan to incorporate 10GB workstations into the network for seamless data transfer and management. However, the primary goal is to bolster our server room's backup capability, allowing it to handle multiple concurrent saturated 25GB+ connections effectively.
To realize this objective, we propose the following enhancements to our network topology:
Aggregated Network Links: Implement network link aggregation to combine multiple network connections between servers and storage devices, boosting throughput and resilience. This will effectively utilize the 2-4x 10/25GB network capability of our servers and the high-speed connectivity of storage devices.
Upgraded Backbone Connectivity: Upgrade our network backbone to ensure a consistent network speed of 25GB+ throughout the server room. This will facilitate the efficient execution of backup, migration, and disaster recovery tasks.
Load Balancing: Employ load balancing mechanisms to evenly distribute network traffic across available connections. This will prevent network congestion and ensure that each connection operates at optimal speed.
Quality of Service (QoS) Configuration: Implement QoS settings to prioritize backup, migration, and disaster recovery traffic, ensuring their uninterrupted performance even during peak usage periods.
10GB Workstation Integration: Accommodate 10GB workstations within the network, providing them with seamless connectivity for data exchange while maintaining the focus on maintaining high-speed connections for critical tasks.
In summary, the proposed enhancements aim to establish a network topology that can effectively support multiple saturated 25GB+ connections, ensuring efficient backup, migration, and disaster recovery processes.
We believe that these improvements will significantly enhance our operational capabilities and contribute to the overall efficiency of our infrastructure.0 -
Hi @cfts_ea,
Thanks for sharing this detailed information.
We also anticipate the trend of increasing network demand for 25G/100G and that is certainly in our best interest to add this into our product portfolio.
The new product will cover the support of high-density ports of 10G, 25G, and 100G but the availability has yet to be determined. We will be able to share more information as the time gets closer.
