Is the activation of https for the GS1200-8 web interface planned in the future? It looks identical to the XGS1210-12, but https is missing.

    Hi @eolo

    We appreciate your question regarding HTTPS support on the GS1200-8. This model currently does not feature HTTPS for web management, unlike the XGS1210-12, which is equipped with this capability. This difference stems from the specific design and target use case of each model.

    I believe that in 2024 web access to the console should be mandatory in https, for any device, however thank you for the reply.

    @Zyxel: Are you kidding me?!

    Dezember 2025 and there is still NO HTTPS-SUPPORT which is STANDARD for a secure Configuration-Interface! I will give Zyxel one week (til 1st week of January 2026) for a HTTPS-Support-Firmware-Update for GS1200-8 otherwise i'll send it back and give them a 1-Star-Rating@Ama-zon!

    Where's the Security-Promise of your company if you're not able to use HTTPS for encrypted Communication! Actually Data are transmitted absolutely unencrypted (clear-text) and so there's also no protection of the Login-Data! What did your engineers think to bring such an immature product to the market?

    Well you say the XGS1210-12 which is like my XGS1250-12 but its not like you can put your own Certificate on it like the XS1930-10

    Its not like the GS1200-8 was meant to be on the WAN side its just your LAN side plus its low cost which means encryption would cost more to add and really? Is it needed? I'm sure other makers do the same.

    So if you want encryption you need to step up.

    Hi @CS2K25

    Thank you for bringing this topic to the discussion.

    We are just in the process to introduce the new GS1200-8v3 that supports HTTPS to the market in couple months, but it would take some time to see it on Amazon.

    So, a quick fix is to return the unit to Amazon and get the latest GS1200-8v3 directly from the Zyxel store as early birds.

    https://store.zyxel.com/gs1200-8v3-eu0101f.html

    To give it a bit more background, GS1200-8 was introduced way before HTTPS becomes the norms for web traffic. It does not have sufficient CPU performance and memory capacity to handle the encryption process. We all know that memory costs money, that’s why most Switch at this price band does not support HTTPS even of today. We also see the importance of network security in private network raises over time, that’s why HTTPS is added to the new GS1200-8v3 even if others at this price band do not support it.

    We appreciate your effort to reach out to us directly and hope you will continue to enjoy our product.
