Hello everyone,
According to recent articles, it's possible to convert the firmware of some Wi-Fi Access Point models from the original Zyxel version to OpenWRT.

I was wondering if it would be possible to have a live demo of the OpenWRT firmware (as is the case for some firewall models - USG Flex H has its own demo for the 200H).

For example, I personally have never had the opportunity to see/try the firmware in question, and before considering replacing the current firmware (without being able to revert to the original), I'd like to try it first, especially to understand the feel and any configuration difficulties I might encounter.

    We understand your desire to test it first, but please note that OpenWRT is third-party firmware not officially supported by Zyxel. As such, we cannot provide a live demo environment.

    Additionally, installing custom firmware will void your Zyxel product warranty.

    Yes I know, and at 99.9% is not my intention to install third-party firmware.

    My question is only because I don't know how are easy or difficult manage an OpenWRT device.
    So, in any case, we need to ask a live demo env directly to OpenWRT?

    While some Zyxel AP models can support OpenWRT-based customized firmware, we would still recommend using the original Zyxel firmware for the best compatibility and support experience.

    Please note that if OpenWRT firmware is installed, any issues related to its operation would be outside the scope of Zyxel support and warranty.

    If you would like to explore OpenWRT further, you may consider checking directly with OpenWRT for demo or testing options.
