Wireless Devices Randomly Disconnecting After Firmware Update

after updating the firmware on my Zyxel wireless access point some devices started randomly disconnecting from WiFi for a few seconds before reconnecting automatically. The issue mostly affects phones and smart devices while signal strength still looks normal. I already restarted the access point and checked channel settings but the problem continues. Has anyone experienced this after a recent firmware update or found a stable solution?

    Hi @aqeelkiyani27,

For initial troubleshooting, please help review the following suggestions first:

    • Since some mobile and IoT devices may struggle with advanced roaming standards, please try temporarily disabling 802.11k/v/r under the SSID advanced settings.
    • If possible, please also test with WPA2-only security mode temporarily, as some IoT or older client devices may experience compatibility issues.
    • Please ensure the DCS (Dynamic Channel Selection) functionality is enabled.
    • For affected phones or smart devices, please also ensure their OS and wireless drivers are fully updated.

To help us better understand your environment, could you also provide the following information?

    1. Which specific product model and firmware version are you currently using?
    2. What is your current network topology? How are the devices connected to each other?
    3. Are you managing the device via Nebula Cloud or in Standalone mode? If the device is managed via Nebula, please enable Zyxel Support Access so we can review the configuration directly.
    4. If the issue continues to occur, please collect the diagnostic info file while the issue is happening and provide it to us for further analysis. Additionally, please include the approximate timestamp when the disconnect occurred and the affected client devices' MAC addresses.

Once we have this information, we can continue investigating the issue.
