Hi,I have a NWA50BE and I live in the UK. I believe I setup the router to use UK as country (I am trying to find a way to confirm that because it's setup as Standalone, the Wizard shows UK as first choice) but I am unable to see any channels in U-NII-3 band (e.g. 144) which, to my knowledge, can be used here. Can you please confirm? Thank you.

    Hi @r4w

In standalone mode, this is not possible since the AP you get is probably hardware for EU only, which restricts the countries you can select.

The workaround is to register your AP with Nebula. Nebula will allow you to select other countries, like the US and Taiwan, that support FCC U-NII-3 (CE 5GHz Band 4).

    Hi @r4w

Since the U-NII-3 band was previously not permitted in the UK, our AP was designed without support for this band in compliance with the regulations at the time. Thank you for bringing this to our attention — your inquiry has made us aware of the updated policy. We will evaluate this requirement accordingly.

@Zyxel_Melen Thanks for the response. I am actually surprised by the response as the U-NII-3 band has been approved for use back in 2017/2018, so I would think this is more a bug than an Idea really. If there is a workaround or a way that I can access that band, it would be great too, as I live in a very congested area and it would beneficial for me to switch to that. Thanks.

    Hi @r4w

This is not a bug. Due to the fact that currently in the European region, only the UK and Czech Republic support output radio power up to 23 dBm, while the remaining European countries are limited to 14 dBm, Zyxel currently has no short-term plans to enable the FCC U-NII-3 (CE 5GHz Band 4) option for this frequency band.

The idea post is used to help us monitor and evaluate how many users require this frequency band. Hope this clears things up.

@Zyxel_Melen Thanks for explaining and I appreciate that is specific to the UK, but this restricts the choice of channels for me. Is there any way to change the country to US without resetting the AP?

Hi @Zyxel_Melen thanks, I will try to add it to Nebula and check. Just to confirm, will I lose the current configuration? My understanding is that it should be retained and lost only if I decide to remove it from Nebula. Is that correct?

    Hi @r4w,

Yes, you will lose the configuration since you need to reset/factory default your AP. The current firmware disables Nebula discovery when you select standalone mode. Reset/factory default the AP will re-enable it and allows it to connect to Nebula.

Please also backup you configuration before reset/factory default.

Thanks for the help @Zyxel_Melen. I did reset the AP (did backup the config first), configured it on Nebula and switched the network to country United States, keeping an eye on the dBm limits as they're diverse here in UK from the US ones, but I have access to U-NII-3 band now.
