Client Problem with NWA30BE

first, I am new to Zyxel WiFi Products…

I own a 3-Story building.

Getting started, I installed 2 NWA55BE, and 1 NWA50AX Pro.

The 55BE's are located unter the roof (Temperature reason), the 50AX in the middle of the ground floor (ceiling).

After setup -Standalone- all works fine for me. Most aereas within the building, plus part of the outside area are covered.

Now I've got the idea to buy 2 NWA30BE in addtion to cover the basement and one "grey" corner of the living room.

The setup is identical to the other AP's (SSID, etc.), ZON tells me: all OK.

However, NONE of my WiFi clients (PC, MAC, Smartphones, Laptop, Tablets) connects or roames to the NWA30BE's… under no circumstance, even if the client is just 10 Inches away from the NWA30BE AP's.

I've been playing with Disassociate Station Threshold, 802.11k/v Assisted Roaming but no success.

Disassociate Station Threshold adjustment works, but it disconncets the client irrevocable.

It is possible that i got mentally stucked meanwhile…

Does anyone can help me out?

THX in advance and best regards

    Hi @Wees ,

    Welcome to the Zyxel Community!

When introducing new Wi-Fi 7 models like the NWA30BE alongside Wi-Fi 6 or older Access Points, connection and roaming issues are frequently related to firmware compatibility or advanced wireless security standards.

To help resolve this, please follow these troubleshooting steps:

Verify and Update the Firmware Version

    • If your NWA30BE models are running an early or pre-V7.10 firmware version, they may suffer from configuration or connection bugs common to early Wi-Fi 7 chipsets.
    • Action: Please upgrade your NWA30BE access points to the latest stable firmware (such as V7.10p2 or newer). If you encounter any issues upgrading them via the ZON Utility, verify that the local FTP service is enabled on the AP (Standalone GUI: Configuration > System > FTP).

Check for Power Restrictions (Limited Power Mode)

    • Wi-Fi 7 access points have higher power requirements. If your NWA30BE is connected to an older PoE switch (IEEE 802.3af), it may automatically boot in a Limited Power Mode, which can cause the AP to disable certain radio bands or stop broadcasting the SSID entirely.
    • Action: Verify that your PoE switches or injectors support at least IEEE 802.3at (PoE+) or 802.3bt (PoE++). You can also test powering one of the NWA30BEs with a compatible DC power adapter to see if clients can immediately discover and connect to it.

Check SSID Security Mode & Transition Settings

    • Since Wi-Fi 7 (and the 6GHz band) mandates WPA3 security, configuring a transition mode (like WPA2/WPA3 mixed) on a unified SSID can sometimes cause legacy client devices (laptops, older smartphones) to refuse to connect or roam to the new AP if they fail to negotiate the handshakes properly.

    Missing Information Request

To help us narrow this down further, could you provide a bit more detail on your current environment?

    1. What is the current firmware version running on your NWA30BE APs?
    2. How are the NWA30BE APs being powered (e.g., DC power adapter, PoE injector, or a specific PoE switch model)?
    3. What's your network topology? Is the NWA30BE connecting to your network by cable or wireless mesh?
    4. What's the WiFi signal strength on the wireless client's WiFi status when nearing the NWA30BE?

In the meantime I have fixed the problem.

It was a Password issue. My fault…

    Now it works perfect.

sorry for any inconvenience i may have caused.

    THX for your support.

However from the Zyxel page, I've seen the ZAC utility. Tried to download, but no success for a downloadfile. Even after a chat with Zyxel. Have submitted the requested info.

Is there any link to some .exe file available?

    Hi @Wees

The ZAC utility only supports Zyxel AC series Access Point. Since the supported models are reached their end-of-life status, I recommend to setup your device via device local GUI directly. We will also review should the ZAC utility webpage still be published.

Additionally, could you share where or who did you chat with Zyxel?

Well thx a lot for this info.❤️

As per your question, on the Zyxel homepage, Germany, there is a button named "Chatten Sie mit uns".

    Thats what I did…

My question was how can I download the ZAC utility.

The chat referred to the below link. I've submitted the requested information (first name/last name/e-mail adress etc.) https://www.zyxel.com/de/de/products/wireless/zac-zyxel-ap-configurator

    but no result.

After I postet "nothing happens" to the bot, the chatbot did tell me: "das wird klappen, dauert noch, bitte um Geduld"…
