We have Frontier rolling out their Static IP service in surrounding areas. I am having a hard time setting up their Static IP settings in my USG200FLEX devices. Typically with Coax service they would just give me a static IP, subnet, and gateway and life is easy.

With Frontier Fiber they supply a fiber ONT, and what seems like two sets of static IP's which I am unfamiliar with. For example:

Static IP: 32.220.2.218

Gateway: 32.220.2.1

Subnet: 255.255.255.0

Then another "local IP" set:

LAN IP: 32.220.2.216/30

Usable: 32.220.2.217

Gateway: 32.220.2.218

Subnet 255.255.255.252

Has someone had success in programming this into Nebula?

    Before diving into the config, it would help to know what you're trying to do with these IPs. Since 32.220.2.217 is a public IP, are you planning to host a public-facing server and map it to a specific internal device via NAT? Or do you just need general internet access for your LAN?

    Most setups don't put public IPs directly on the LAN, so knowing your use case will help us recommend the right configuration on the USG FLEX 200.

    Hi Tina,

    Right now we do not need any 1:1 NAT mapping to an internal server, just general internet access from the LAN.

    So we need to know how your ISP gives you your WAN IP subnet to which there are two way.
    The 1st is direct such that you connect a PC to the hub and you get one of your WAN IP like any normal consumer with one IP but you have many
    The 2nd is your ISP gives you a IP unrelated to you WAN IP subnet which is good you can use your many WAN IPs the correct way.

    So right now do you have your WAN interface get I IP by DHCP and not get one of your WAN IP's? If so then on a LAN interface you put your WAN IP subnet on like if you have a 32.220.2.1 with 255.255.255.0 and setup DHCP then you just need a routeing like
    incoming LAN

    next hop WAN
    and the important bit SNAT none not outgoing-interface

    your ISP would then do static route to your unrelated IP for your WAN IP subnet back to you

    Thank you for the clarification.

    It appears that your requirement is simply for LAN devices to access the internet, which should be achievable by configuring the WAN settings. Before we finalize a specific WAN configuration, it would help to understand a bit more about how Frontier intends this to be set up, since ISPs can provide two IP sets like this in more than one way.

    A couple of questions:

    • Did Frontier provide any explanation or documentation for why they supplied two separate IP sets?
    • Have you already tried configuring anything on the USG FLEX 200 in Nebula? If so, could you please describe what issue you encountered after the configuration? In addition, kindly provide any relevant screenshots or error messages so we can further investigate.

    Hi Tina,

    Unfortunately a lot of our ISP's around here won't provide any detailed information- they don't seem to know how to set up any static IP's outside of their own supplied Routers.

    I was able to get the connection to work, but not using the static IP they supplied (strange, right?)

    I think @PeterUK is on the right track. I will do some testing using the routing to see if it works.
