Is there really no way from within the Web interface of a standalone XMG1915-10E (latest official FW V4.80(ACGO.3) | 11/26/2024) to change it from using a static IP to using a management network setup governed by DHCPV4?

When I change the IPV4 static interface from static to DHCP a new interface with same VID 1 and both gateway and mask 0.0.0.0 (index 1, old static interface now has index 2) shows up.

When I then try to delete the old static interface the router refuses it with the comment: first unset gateway (apparently because it is in use by the static interface).

And any attempt to erase the gateway or set it to 0.0.0.0 results in a: invalid IP message…

So catch 22: to delete the static interface I have to unset the gateway and to unset the gateway I first have to delete the static interface using it…

I eventually solved the problem via ZON, but still: there really should be a way to make the switch from static to DHCPV4 completely from within the Web interface…

Accepted Solution

    Hi @cbeckstein ,

Following the internal review and investigation, you can switch the device's static IP interface to a dynamic IP interface using the web GUI management method.

First, configure your default gateway as 0.0.0.0. in order to unset the default gateway.

Then, click the static IP interface and edit it.

Next, select the DHCP client and input the VID.

At last, delete the original static IP interface, and then the device is now switched into the DHCP IP interface.

I hope this helps resolve your issue. Please feel free to update this post if you run into any other problems or need further assistance.

    Best Regard,

    Lynn

Hi, i have the same issue like the others. I tried now several times your steps but the switch don't want to get an ip adress via dhcp. I can't use ZON because i am using a mac and nebula is much to complicated and overhelming for a consumer who don't want to pay for an ui i never use. Would be great if you could fix the error or have another workaround to get the switch up and running.

    thx in advance
