Hi,

i am facing the issue that i am not able like others to receive an ip for the XMG1915-10EP like others. I also followed the already closed thread

No one confirmed that this works and the thread is closed. I tried to do the procedure described in the post from support but after several hours i gave up. Could you please provide a patch for the switch or a workaround that works. i can't use ZON as a mac user and Nebula is to much for a consumer like me and don't need an abo to do such things.

thx in advance !!!

problems like this can be solved by the following

If switch is new you should not need to reset it or just reset to defaults to be sure next do not connect the swich to your router have it just connected to a PC static IP 192.168.1.2/24 you should then be able to connect to the switch by IP 192.168.1.1 then edit the switch IP to what you want

Thanks for the answer and the workaround i already have to use otherwise i couldn't use the swich at all. But i would prefer that the switch uses DHCP to get the IP that i can transfer it to another router without touching him. This is possible and the webui offers it but it's not working as expected. Though more about a fix or if this isn't possible a workaround like the support described to get DHCP mode running.

    Hi @Franky,

Thank you for your feedback and detailed description.
Please allow us to clarify the following points:

1.How DHCP Works on the Switch
By factory default, the XMG1915-10E operates as a DHCP client and broadcasts DHCP Discover packets. If it does not receive an IP address from a DHCP server, it falls back to the default static IP address 192.168.1.1 so you can still access the Web GUI for management.

Once the DHCP server responds, the switch will apply the assigned IP address. If the switch remains on 192.168.1.1, the most likely reason is that its DHCP requests are not reaching the DHCP server, or that the switch cannot receive the server's response. Please check the network connectivity between the switch and the DHCP server, and make sure the VLAN settings match.

    2.Interface Configuration
If you have manually set the interface type to a static IP address, you will need to switch it back to DHCP client.

If you encounter any errors or conflicts during configuration in the Web GUI, please provide us with a screenshot of your current IP interface settings, along with a description of the error and any related screenshots.

    3.Connection Path Checks
If the IP interface is confirmed to be set to DHCP client but the switch still cannot obtain an IP address, you can connect a PC to a switch port and use a packet capture tool (such as Wireshark) to verify whether the switch is sending DHCP Discover packets.

If the switch is transmitting DHCP Discover packets, it is functioning properly on its end. In that case, please inspect the connection path to the DHCP server:

1.Uplink cable and port link status (we recommend unplugging and reconnecting the cable).

2.VLAN configuration on the uplink (the management VLAN must have access to the DHCP server).

3.Any intermediate devices that might block or filter DHCP broadcast traffic.

4.Whether the upstream DHCP server replies with a DHCP Offer and still has available IP addresses in its pool.

Next Steps (if the issue persists)
Please provide your device firmware version (whether it is the latest version) and your network topology, especially details regarding the upstream device acting as the DHCP server (model, firmware version, VLAN settings, and the port configuration connecting to the switch). We will be glad to assist you with further troubleshooting.
