Hello everyone,
I've enabled the secondary firmware partition with the scope to maintain always an old working firmware version.

The problem is when I update a config into the primary partition; the new config is not applied directly to the secondary partition.

Now, I would like to install the new firmware release to the secondary partition, but in my case, in the meantime with the current partition, I've changed some configuration and also, I've generated new 2FA codes (deleting the old one from authenticator).

So how I can copy the current configuration to the secondary partition "on-the-fly" without save the current config, switch to the secondary partition and then re-apply the config? Also because, changing the 2FA codes and deleted the old account, I'm not sure to enter to the secondary boot partition if I activate it.

Thank you

So yes if you update firmware in Standby your current config is copied over.

Bit confused with how you put it but see no wrong with how its done there is not primary  and secondary partition its Running and Standby I guess its the same thing but having said like that the way its is shown less confusion.

So if your on running when you upgrade Standby your config from running is copied over and what was Standby is now running with your config that got copied over.

if for some reason you have a config in Standby thats not in running you should boot to standby for it to be running to then update Standby as above.

    Hi @PeterUK,
the problem is when I check the config backup/restore page, I see that there is a configuration into the current partition, and a config (old) in the standby partition.
If I update the standby partition with the newest firmware, and then boot the standby partition, I wouldn't want the configuration that gets loaded to be the old one.

Current partition config: updated on 05/10/2026
Standby partition config: updated on 10/06/2026

So, if I boot the standby partition, the config loaded is updated on 10/06/2026, so is oldest than the current, or I'm wrong?
In the meanwhile, the current partition have a modification on how the flex connect to the WAN, and if I reboot into the standby partition I lost this modification, and the flex cannot anymore connect to internet (until I change the config or upload the "current" config into the "standby")

    Or, I'm wrong something?
Or when I reboot into the standby partition, before restarting, the flex copy the current config into the standby?

    Thank you

    Hi @PeterUK,

Yes I confirm. When you reboot the standby partition, the current configuration being copied into the standby and then rebooted.
