I believe we have found why our HP or Cisco Managed Gigabit PoE are having issues communicating with a 1000 HD connection to LAN port of our ZyWall - as described previously no issue when set to 100 HD.

We tried a non-PoE Gigabit switch and it worked at 1000 HD with ZyWall - success. So went back to the original PoE switches we tried, disabled PoE on the port we use to connect to ZyWall and communicating fine now at 1000 HD.

So I guess we have our answer however none the wiser as why this would cause this result with the ZyWall. If anyone has a possible explanation feel free to post.

We have checked the connection between USG series and Zyxel PoE switch internally and the issue does not occur.
As your description, Since Cisco Managed Gigabit PoE are having issues communicating with a 1000 HD connection to LAN port of our ZyWall, could you collect Cisco's debug log for checking purpose?

Both the HP and Cisco switch we updated the firmware yesterday and re-enabled PoE, and the negotiation issue resolved itself with the ZyWall. There must have been something in the 2014 version of switch firmware that caused this PoE fault.

    Thank you for everyone's suggestions.

We are having the same issue here at my company. We just upgraded our fiber service to 500 symmetric, and we are getting a Gig-e handoff from a newly installed Cisco router.  Whenever the Cisco port is set to 1000M and the Zyxel is set to auto negotiate, the port goes down.  100M Full, no Negotiate or auto negotiate is the only way to get the port working.  The firmware on our usg-1000 is 3.30(AQV.5), release date 2014-05-15 13:50:07.  Should we upgrade the firmware?
