Does a USG model have the option to ban an IP temporarily after an attempt to connect to certain port?
eg. Deny any connections from an IP for 10 minutes after attempting to connect to port 3389.

No but it does deny the IP if the port is not open but if the port is open it would not know if its legit or not.

To run port 3389 remotely and firewall it you can use no-ip remotely with a firewall rule to allow from source a FQDN address
