What are the different IGMP snooping modes?
There are three different IGMP snooping modes:
- Normal leave: This is the default mode. In this mode, the switch will wait for a certain amount of time (200 to 6348800 milliseconds) for an IGMP report before removing an IGMP snooping membership entry when an IGMP leave is received on the port from a multicast client.
- Fast leave: In this mode, the switch will send out an IGMP Group-Specific Query (GSQ) message immediately after receiving an IGMP leave report message. This will help to speed up the leave process.
- Immediate leave: In this mode, the switch will remove the port from its multicast forwarding table immediately after receiving an IGMP leave report message. This is the most efficient mode, but it can also cause problems if there are multiple clients on the port that are still using the multicast group.
