How to set up self-signed cert to access web GUI from WAN interface without "Not Secure" warning?






Question: When users access the web GUI from the internet, the HTTPS not secure warning always shows up. How to avoid it?
Answer:
Navigate to Configuration > Object > Certificate > My Certificates, and click +Add to generate a self-signed certificate.
- Input the WAN IP address to Host IP Address
- Enable Server Authentication
- Tick Create a self-signed certificate
Export the certificate and download it to your PC
Navigate to Configuration > System > WWW > Service Control, and select the certificate we just generated (WEB_GUI_access), and click Apply
Now let's import the self-generated certificate.
Press Windows + R keys on the keyboard and type "mmc"
In the mmc console, click Add/Remove Snap-in…
- Select Certificates and Add > it to the "Selected snap-ins:"
- Select Computer account and Next
Open Certificates(Local Computer) > Trusted Root Certificate Authorities, and then right-click on Certificate > All Tasks > Import
Select the certificate we just generated, then we're finished
Test Result: You will the URL shows locked and safe
