Secure default SSID when installing AP right from the box in network or after default settings

Something that has been really frustrating me over the past years that is that every Access Point you connect to the network without configuring has an open SSID. This means if a customer installs a AP on itself, the network is unsecured. Or sometimes we have cliënts that think, the wifi is not working(because of internet outage, nothing to do with the AP) and they press the reset button…

Also I saw today if the AP loses his connection with Nebula, it sends out an unsecured network "ZyMESH_…" ?

    Hi @nielsscheldeman ,

Thank you for sharing with us your idea.

Actually, after creating the site, Wi-Fi SSID setting’s Advanced mode is disable and users can type the SSID password.

In case the users change the Wi-Fi SSID setting’s Advanced mode to enable, user need to edit Security setting or navigate to Configure > Access points > SSID advanced settings to choose the Security option.

Regarding to Zymesh, it's our smart mesh's mechanism for auto meshing between APs. Normally, clients can't connect to this SSID, so don’t worry about that.

Ok, but what with AP's that aren't connected to Nebula? For example the ones that come right out of the box.

    Hi @nielsscheldeman ,

    Thank you for your input!

We assume that the default SSID's security option being set to something other than "open" may be a common preference among users. Therefore, we are considering creating a future request to evaluate this feature. We will closely monitor the votes and comments as part of our evaluation process.

If any users support this idea, please express your opinion by leaving a comment or voting for it. Your feedback is vital to our decision-making process.
