Introduction
DANTE Network is an Audio over Ethernet system developed by Audinate Corporation. It uses multicast to stream audio in the IP network. This topic will guide users to configure their switches for the DANTE network.

Topology

Configuration

  1. Use Networked AV wizard to set up IGMP snooping.
    1. Choose Networked AV Mode
    2. Click basic Settings
    3. Follow the Networked AV Wizard to set up.
  2. Change back to standard mode to configure DSCP.
    1. Select standard mode on the top left of the web GUI.
    2. Go to Switching > QoS > Diffserv
    3. Active Diffserv and active Diffserv for all ports.
  3. Set the Reserved Multicast Group setting for PTP multicast group.
For switch such as GS1920, GS2220, and XS3800, which don't support Static Multicast Forwarding by IP.
    1. Go to Switching > Multicast > Static Forwarding by MAC
    2. Click add button.
    3. Configure PTP multicast address: Active: On, MAC address: PTP multicast address, VID: Audio VLAN, Port: All ports

P.S. For The PTP multicast address please reference below:
      Multicast name Multicast address
      PTP-1 01:00:5e:00:01:81
      PTP-2 01:00:5e:00:01:82
      PTP-3 01:00:5e:00:01:83
      PTP-4 01:00:5e:00:01:84
  4. For XS1930, XMG1930, and XGS2220, they support both by MAC and by IP methods. Static Multicast Forwarding by IP is used in the following example.
    1. Go to Switching > Multicast > Static Forwarding by IP
    2. Click add button.
    3. Configure PTP multicast address: IP address: PTP multicast IP address, VID: Audio VLAN, Port: All ports

P.S. For The PTP multicast address please reference below:
      Multicast name Multicast address
      PTP-1 224.0.1.129
      PTP-2 224.0.1.130
      PTP-3 224.0.1.131
      PTP-4 224.0.1.132

Note:

User can configure either Static Multicast Forwarding by MAC or IP if a switch model support both methods.

Verification

  1. Check whether your Dante controller can scan the Dante device or not.
  2. Transmit the audio and check the multicast latency of your receiver.
