CNC - issue with CNC Notification and request for improvement
Hello,
We are using CNC from a while, and I recently activate the Notification option.
But it's seems that the notification for "Node Detected Reboot"
is not well working.
It is sending too many alert even if the router did not reboot.
Second Request :
Could you add in the CNC the option to see in availability not only for the last 24 hours, but as well for the last 7 days and 30 days.
Thanks
Regards,
Damien

Hi @Damien,
Thanks for the information.
The "Node Detected Reboot" mechanism is to check the device system uptime every 5 minutes.
It will compare the current polling system uptime and the last 5 minutes system uptime of the device.
Please help to verify the following:
1. Help to make a test by connecting a PC in the same subnet and ping the router, check the IP ARP table if the MAC of the router is changing. If yes, it means that there are two devices with the same IP address. Because of the only way to trigger this event without your router rebooting is there are two devices with the same IP address. The result will be the CNC polling the device with the same IPs.
2. You may also check if the system uptime of the node on CNC and your router system uptime is consistent.
Example: The device below is 3H, 58 minutes 51 secs, the device GS2210-8HP system uptime must be the same.
Regarding the second request, CNC current feautre for Availability has a 24H to monitor the connection status of the devices. May I know the purpose of why do you need adding an option of 7 days & 30 days?

Hello,Thanks for your reply. The MAC or IP of each routers is not checking. The issue is that the router check is done over VPN on a external site. The CNC is installed in the HQ, and the router checked is on an external site. And sometime to Internet on the external site may be cut for more than 1 hour, but the router did not restarted. So, for my understanding the "node Detected Reboot" should only receive information when it detect that the router has been rebooted and not when there is a Internet cut.I would like to have the Notification only if the router has been restarted no when there is a cut of Internet. The Internet cut should be indicated with "Interface Down".Regarding the second element: Availability.I suppose the availability is base on the snmp check.I would like to follow how many time the site is not connected on the VPN or Internet but not only during the last 24h, but for 7 days and 30 days.I would like to have an Indicator (KPI) on the stability on my Internet connection and on my VPN connection.Regards,Damien0

Hi @IT_Field_Support
A way to do it is via snmp.
Request the OID1.3.6.1.2.1.1.3 - sysUpTime
Generated from OBJECT-TYPE definition found in rfc1213-mib2.asn1
OID value: 1.3.6.1.2.1.1.3
OID description:
sysUpTime OBJECT-TYPE SYNTAX TimeTicks ACCESS read-only STATUS mandatory DESCRIPTION "The time (in hundredths of a second) since the network management portion of the system was last re-initialized." ::= { system 3 }
An easy script could determine if the device rebooted.
It will work for any device.
I hope it helps you.
Regards

Hi @Alfonso ,Thanks for your reply. It's true that with the SNMP I could do that, but since we subscribe to a solution (CNC) and that we are paying a yearly fee, I am expecting the solution to provide me that service, and not create another tool for it.And the availability I want is it necessary the up time of the router, but the up time of the Internet connection.0

Hi @Damien,
Thanks for the information.
CNC node detected reboot is determined by polling the system uptime of the node via SNMP.
The mechanism is purely simple, CNC keeps on polling the system uptime every 5 minutes and compares the current system uptime and the last 5-minutes system uptime of the node.
I'll PM you to retrieve more detailed information to verify the situation.
For the requested feature, I'll create a discussion in the Ideas section.
