Scenario
BPDU Ctrl is used to allow the switch to handle bridging control protocols (STP, for example). Some applications will need the switch to bypass/flood the BPDU, this FAQ will introduce how to set BPDU Ctrl and the option.
Configuration
- Navigate to SYSTEM > Switch Setup to turn on "Bridge Control Protocol Transparency."
- Navigate to Port > port setup to set BPDU Ctrl for your ports.
Here are the behaviors of each option:
- Peer: The switch will process the BPDU when received on this port, and it won't be forwarded/flooded to other ports.
- Tunnel: The switch won't process the BPDU when received on this port. It will be forwarded/flooded to other ports.
- Discard: The switch will drop any BPDU when received on this port.
- Network: The switch will process the BPDU when it comes without a VLAN tag, and forward/flood to other ports when it comes with a VLAN tag.
Note:
- Only the following models support Bridge Control Protocol Transparency and BPDU Ctrl function: XGS4600 series, XS3800, XGS2220 series, XS1930 series (with access L3 License), XMG1930 series (with access L3 License)
