WLAN Controllers and Port Speeds

Maybe I am misunderstanding, but why does the NXC2500 have only 1-gbit ports when in most cases the 802.11ax access points (e.g. WAX610D) have 2.5-gbit uplinks? Generally, I would prefer managing the WLAN locally over the cloud, but routing all the traffic from the router to the rest of the LAN through 1-gbit ports on the WLAN controller seems like a serious performance price.
