DHCP Server Guard and DHCP Snooping are two distinct features with different operational mechanisms and purposes:
- DHCP Server Guard: This feature uses hardware ACL to control the passage of DHCP packets based on the trust status (trusted/untrusted) of a port. It does not record IP/MAC information to a table.
- DHCP Snooping: In contrast, DHCP Snooping monitors and controls DHCP packets, allowing them only through trusted ports. This process is managed by software and records information to the IPSG (IP Source Guard) table.
