On a web-managed switch, the "Unknown Multicast Drop" feature within IGMP Snooping ensures that multicast traffic is only sent to ports with devices requesting to join a specific multicast group. If a multicast frame doesn't correspond to any group listed in the switch's IGMP table — essentially an 'unknown' group — this feature will discard it.
This prevents unnecessary multicast data from being sent to every device on your network, streamlining traffic flow and enhancing network performance by avoiding data overflow to uninterested parties.
