What is Smart Fan Control?

Smart Fan Control is a feature in the XGS1250-12 Switch that adjusts the fan speed based on the internal temperature of the device to ensure optimal performance and prolong the device's lifespan.

How does Smart Fan Control work?

Navigate to the 'Management' tab > scroll down to find the 'Smart FAN Control' setting box

Auto Mode:

• The fan speed varies depending on the switch's temperature.
  • If the temperature is above 80 degrees Celsius (176 degrees Fahrenheit), the fan activates.
  • The fan deactivates once the temperature falls below 70 degrees Celsius (158 degrees Fahrenheit).
• By default, the Smart Fan Control is set to Auto.

Full Mode:

• The fan operates at maximum speed regardless of the internal temperature.

Note

• If a high temperature is detected, the switch will automatically lower the link speed to decrease the temperature of the switch.
• The Smart Fan Control with selectable 'Auto' or 'Full' modes is only available on the XGS1250-12 with hardware revision B1.
• For the XGS1250-12 with hardware revision A1, the smart fan feature operates only in 'Auto' mode and does not offer the 'Smart Fan Control' setting to switch modes.
