What the buttons "Reset" and "Restore" mean

Reset:

  • The Reset button is designed to reboot the ZYXEL Switch.

Restore:

  • press the restore button for 10 seconds to automatically reboot and restore the factory default file.
  • press the restore button for 3 to 6 seconds to automatically reboot and restore the last saved custom file.

Look after these precautions before Resetting your Switch:

  • Backup Configuration: It’s advisable to back up the current configuration of your Switch.
  • Document Current Settings: Take note of any customized configurations, VLAN Settings, Port configurations or other network settings you have applied to the switch.
  • Disconnect Unnecessary Devices: Disconnect any unnecessary Devices before you reset the ZYXEL Switch. This helps to prevent potential disruptions to network services.
  • Check Firmware Version: Ensure your ZYXEL Switch runs the latest firmware before resetting. Updating can fix issues, enhance stability and ensure compatibility with new features.

  2. Locate the restore button on your ZYXEL Switch and press it for 3 to 6 seconds. The switch will automatically reboot and restore the last saved custom Default file.
  3. If the SYS and PWR LED are green after blinking, then it successfully restored your last saved custom default file.

Follow these steps to reset your ZYXEL Switch (Factory default file):

  1. Ensure the ZYXEL Switch is online and operational.
  2. Locate the reset button on your ZYXEL Switch and press it for 10 seconds. The switch will automatically reboot and restore the factory default file.
  3. If both the SYS and PWR LEDs are green after blinking, the switch has successfully restored the factory default file.
