What is the difference between Auto and fixed speed settings on the XGS1250-12 Switch?

Selecting Auto allows the port to automatically negotiate the best possible connection speed with the connected device. Fixed speed settings (e.g., 10M-Full Duplex, 100M-Full Duplex, 1G-Full Duplex) set the port to operate at a specific speed and duplex mode, which requires the peer port to be set to the same speed and duplex mode for a successful connection.
XGS1250-12 obtains the following speeds when you select Auto:
• ports 1-8 connection speed of up to 1G
• ports 9-12 connection speed of up to 10G
