NWA55AXE mesh possible in standalone mode w/o any sort of controller and subscription?
Dears, I'm just about to purchase two NWA55AXE. One is supposed to be connected to an internet router directly via cable and the other one should wirelessly repeat the signal for better overall coverage of the area. Is this mesh setup possible in standalone mode w/o a cloud or hardware controller / NCC subscription? Thank you so much for your feedback already! KR, Klaus

Hi @klaustim,
Yes, NWA55AXE supports WDS, one of the mesh technical, in the standalone mode. Please reference these FAQs to understand the WDS function and the configuration.

Dears, I immediately ordered two NWA55AXE upon your reply. I've followed the instructions in the first linked FAQ article. However, the option "Repeater" is greyed out for the second radio. Please refer to the screenshot below. How come, can this functionality be used on one radio only? I want to have 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz set up the same way to offer both frequencies in parallel.
Thank you again for getting back to me. Klaus

Hi @klaustim,
The Mesh function, no matter WDS or smart mesh, will only use one radio. That's why you cannot set the second radio to root ap or repeater ap.
