Console Cable GS2210-24HP
Hello everyone,
I would like to ask a question regarding the console cable used with the GS2210-24HP.
We're a Business center using about 20 of these switches and the company that was handling all the videosurveillance suddenly disappeared, without giving us any information related to the system.
I arrived in the company after this happened and we don't have the packaging nor the informations regarding the passwords of all the switches.
Hence we're kinda blocked to add any new cameras on site.
1 - I would like to ask where can I purchase the console cable with the RJ45 end for these switches ?
I purchased a DB9 RS232 Male to RJ45 but it didn't work, I noticed that the RJ45 has 8 pins and the DB9 has 9 pins, so I believe that one cable isn't connected to one of the pins of the DB9.
But this cable didn't work.
The DB9 to USB cable worked but I cannot get the IP address of the switch with this cable.
2 - Does the RJ45 end console cable work with the GS2210-24HP ?
Thank you very much.

Hi @SilkRoadParis,
GS2210-24HP is using RS-232 to USB console. Not RJ45 type console.

Hello to you dear Melen,
Thank you so much for taking the time to answer me.
So in order to communicate with the console port of the switch GS2210-24HP, using a DB9/USB cable, should I also use the ZON software ?
Because nothing appears on it when I do that.
One line displays in the software when I plug the front RJ45 of the switch to the laptop's RJ45, mentioning the type of switch, the model, the firmware version, IP address... Until the location. The rest is blank.
The USB is recognized on the laptop, but on ZON nothing displays.
I feel helpless.
Thank you in advance for your help.

Hi @SilkRoadParis,
Could you help to change the baud rate of your console software, like putty or tera term, to 9600 or 115200? The GS2210-24HP might use one of the baud rates. If your baud rate is mismatched, you cannot get any information from the switch.
ZON is a tool to find your Zyxel devices, but it is not console software. You need to ensure your PC has connected an ethernet cable to the switch and select the correct NIC in ZON settings before scanning your devices.
