Does GS1900-8 provide SSL to webinterface?
Hello!
I just submitted this question ~30min ago, but it doesn't pop up in the list of questions.. so I try it again. If the first one pops up, please ignore this one.
I'm planning to purchase a "Zyxel GS1900-8" switch (not Zyxel GS1900-8EP!).
My question is: Does this device support SSL encryption to access the webinterface? …
I read the manual and there seems to be the option to enable SSL in the config. Unfortunately I had another switch (not Zyxel) some years ago, where the manual said it does support SSL but in reality it didn't. So to be 100% sure, I'd like to ask the community as well.
Thank you for your info!
Greetings
TFG

Hi @TFG ,
Based on the information you provided, we assume you are concerned about the connection security between your computer and the switch when accessing the local GUI. We can implement the HTTPS certificates feature, that are verified by a third party to create secure HTTPS connections between your computer and the Switch.
Click Maintenance > Certificates to open the following screen. Use this screen to import the certificate.0 -
Hi @TFG ,
"We can implement the HTTPS certificates feature" which just means every user will be able to use it (that menu). Zyxel will not provide a valid certificate.
You can use third party certificate such as Let's Encrypt, Comodo, Symantec, Digicert, or self-signed certificate to GS1900.
Please note that GS1900 series only supports RSA algorithm with a maximum key size of 2048 bits.0

Hello @Zyxel_Judy
Thank you very much for your fast response. That's good news.
How exactly does the certificate generation work? You wrote "We can implement the HTTPS certificates feature" .. does this mean, Zyxel will provide a valid certificate? Or do I have to use services like "let's encrypt" to receive a certificate? Are self-signed certificates accepted too?
