The PoE12-3PD is equipped with various management support features to ensure seamless network integration and efficient operation. This device can be managed locally through a Web GUI, remotely via the Nebula Control Center, and through the ZON utility for basic management tasks.

Management Features

  1. Local Web GUI Access:
    • The PoE12-3PD can be accessed by typing its management IP address in a web browser. If the IP address is unknown, users can utilize the ZON utility to scan and identify the device's IP address.
  2. Dashboard Overview:
    • The Web GUI consists of two main pages: the Dashboard and the Maintenance page.
    • System Status Window:
      • Modify management VLAN and IP address.
      • Configure date and time settings for accurate event logs.
      • Default IP assignment is DHCP.
  3. Port Configuration:
    • Adjust downlink speed and duplex settings for compatibility with legacy devices.
    • Rename ports for better tracking of connected devices.
    • Reboot connected PDs by toggling the PoE state on and off.
    • Use LLDP or ZDP protocols to learn about neighbor devices, including system name, IP address, MAC address, and power consumption.
  4. Cloud Management:
    • Register the PoE12-3PD with the Nebula Control Center using the QR code displayed on the dashboard.
    • The QR code facilitates device registration with the Nebula mobile app, including a deep link for downloading the app if it is not already installed.
    • The dashboard displays the status of cloud control, internet connection, and Nebula registration.
    • Users can disable Nebula discovery to keep the device in on-premise management mode if desired.
  5. Maintenance Options:
    • Disable FTP: Prevents firmware upgrades via the ZON utility if not needed.
    • Change Password: Enhance device security by updating the admin password.
    • Manual Firmware Upgrade: Perform updates manually as needed.
    • Reboot Device: Perform a warm restart that does not disrupt the power supply to connected PDs due to continuous PoE support.
  6. Event Logging:
    • Track PoE failures, over-budget events, and other critical notifications through the device’s logs.
  7. Traffic Behavior:
    • The PoE12-3PD forwards VLAN-tagged traffic without changing VLAN IDs.
    • The management VLAN option allows setting the device’s management VLAN to either tagged or untagged.
    • This setting affects only the traffic to and from the PoE12-3PD itself and not the forwarded traffic from downlink to uplink ports.

Summary

The PoE12-3PD provides management features, ensuring seamless integration and efficient operation within any network. Whether managed locally, via the cloud, or using the ZON utility, the device offers flexibility and control.
