Zyxel XGS1010-12 - Transfer Speeds Slow
I have a Zyxel XGS1010-12. I cannot currently test the 10Gb speeds as I'm limited by a 2.5Gb port on my router. I'm having a strange issue I was hoping you could help with.
I recently upgraded my 2.5Gb network card to a 10Gb network card (Intel 82599(X520-DA1)) in my PC and am able to get 2.5Gb speeds but want to be ready for when I replace my router with a UDM-SE.
Router = SPF+ Port 1 & PC = SPF+ Port 2 = 130MB/s max transfer speed
Router = 2.5Gb Port 8 & PC = SPF+ Port 2 = 270Mb/s max transfer speed.
Is there something obvious I could be missing here?
Thanks in advance

To better assist you, could you please clarify whether the speeds you mentioned (130MB/s and 270Mb/s) are in megabytes per second (MB/s) or megabits per second (Mbps)?
Additionally, to help us assess the performance of your XGS1010-12 and ensure everything is functioning as expected, we suggest running a test using iperf3.
Here’s how you can perform the test:
- Download and install iperf3 on both your PC and another device on your network.
- Set up your PC as the client and the other device as the server.
- Share the test results with us for further analysis.
You can refer to this guide for detailed instructions on using iperf3:
Additionally, please verify that your cables (especially for the SPF+ connections) support the intended speeds and that your network card drivers are up-to-date. We also recommend using Zyxel's SFP transceivers to ensure a stable connection between your PC and switch. You can check compatible transceiver models in the datasheet here: XGS1010-12_7.pdf (zyxel.com)
ZYXEL switch products are recommended to be used exclusively with ZYXEL brand modules to ensure optimal performance and reliability.Using modules from third-party sources can potentially lead to decreased network performance and reliability, such as packet loss and connectivity issues, which also cannot be guaranteed by ZYXEL. ZYXEL may not offer technical support for networking issues that are identified as being caused by IOP with third-party modules.
