Unable to get wifi

Hi
I have just switched from copper wire to FTTP.
I have been provided a VMG8623-T50B.
I have turned off WiFi.
I have a network cable going from a LAN port to a LAN port on my ASUS XT8.
I am not able to connect to the internet via the ASUS wirelessly.
What am I doing wrong please?

maybe check with ASUS to see if there is way to set up proper wifi after an gateway.
