Overview

Nestled in a scenic rural setting, L'Olinda - L'Agriturismo faced significant requirements to enhance the guest experience through improved online connectivity and cybersecurity across the entire property. The primary goal was establishing reliable wireless coverage for guest and private areas while implementing a flexible and secure network infrastructure to accommodate future expansions. Furthermore, it was crucial to ensure robust data security compliant with GDPR without compromising speed. L'Olinda – L'Agriturismo partnered with ETA srl and leveraged Zyxel Networks' solutions to create a sophisticated and welcoming environment. The new network provided a solid foundation for the farmhouse resort to evolve and meet future demands seamlessly.

Challenges

L'Olinda - L'Agriturismo faced several challenges in upgrading its technological infrastructure to meet critical needs. Firstly, achieving comprehensive wireless coverage was essential across guest accommodations and private internal areas. Regarding networking, they needed a strong, secure structure capable for accommodating future growth and effectively managing their current home automation system. Security-wise, ensuring compliance with GDPR standards for data protection was crucial while maintaining fast data transmission speeds. Additionally, they required a reliable and future-proof solution for backup data lines and VoIP services.

Solutions

To meet the customer's needs, Zyxel Networks' solutions were deployed to guarantee comprehensive wireless coverage indoors and outdoors. Access points were installed in multiple locations including the ground floor, first floor, underground garage, church, outdoor areas, and specifically in the olive mill using LAN1 for mill operations.

Moreover, the new network proved beneficial in managing the existing home automation system and ensuring data security in compliance with GDPR. Additionally, the solutions were designed to meet future needs such as implementing a backup data line and facilitating VoIP communications.

Results

One of the main benefits of Zyxel Networks' solutions was creating secure and reliable wireless coverage in busy areas, boosted by WiFi 6 technology in key spots like common areas and rooms. Network security through VLANs protects guests with Layer 2 isolation and intra-BSS traffic blocking. Firewalls were used to manage and protect data traffic.

Additionally, the VPN provides convenient network control, making it possible to manage home automation systems and fiscal registers centrally and remotely. Finally, a 5G router was integrated for network backup, ensuring the system stays operational even in critical situations.
