With the latest uOS firmware, a Web Console feature has been introduced, allowing administrators to access the console directly through the web interface. This enhancement provides a more convenient way to manage devices remotely without needing to connect a physical console cable.

Key Features of the Web Console

  1. Easy Access Without Extra Authentication:
    • By clicking the web console icon in the GUI, administrators can open a new browser tab that directly connects to the console interface.
    • Successful GUI login enables automatic web console access in new tab.
  2. Session Management:
    • The web console session counts toward the device's concurrent user logins.
    • Each session is counted as a "web console" type in the active user log list.
  3. Session Limits:
    • A maximum of five concurrent web console sessions can be active at once.
    • If the limit is reached, additional users attempting to open a web console session will receive a "Session Closed" or "Access Denied" message.
  4. Logout and Session Termination:
    • Administrators can close the web console by exiting the browser tab or logging out of the main GUI.
    • When the main GUI session is logged out, any open web console sessions are also terminated.

Benefits of the Web Console

  • Remote Management: This feature allows for real-time device troubleshooting and configuration adjustments without physical access to the firewall.
  • No Cable Required: Eliminates the need for a console cable, saving time and enabling administrators to manage devices from any location.
  • Integrated with GUI Session Limits: Sessions are managed within the same user limit parameters, ensuring administrators can oversee all active connections.

Summary

The Web Console feature in uOS enhances remote management capabilities by allowing direct console access through the web interface. This update simplifies remote troubleshooting, respects login limits, and provides flexibility for network administrators to manage devices without needing physical access or additional authentication steps.
