Hello,

I purchased a brand new XGS1930-28HP switch and am experiencing weird issues with it. Upon removing it from the packaging I placed it on the bench, connected a laptop, and powered it up. After the port LED lit up, I connected to the default IP and tried to log in. It wouldn't take the default password. Tried it a bunch of times and nothing. Looked up the docs to make sure it hadn't changed and it hadn't.

That's when I noticed that the login screen said XGS2210-52. I thought I was hallucinating for a minute. So I factory reset the thing (not actually a reset, but a restore) and the login screen was correct. I logged in and set up the device with a new IP. I restarted the device and now the login screen is back to the wrong model and I can't log in.

Does anyone have any thoughts on what might be going on with it? I did update to the latest firmware and reset it again. Didn't seem to make a difference. I also tried applying a saved config file and it hung at about the 95% mark. Left it for a good 15 minutes. Nothing.

What's odd is that I had purchased two others a couple of weeks ago. Configured them up and put them into the field. Now I can't access them. What's odd is that devices that are plugged into them seem to work, but you can't manage them.

This one is really throwing me for a loop. Hopefully someone can help. Thanks.

Answer: Did a bit more digging and figured it out. When this brand new switch had an uplink plugged in, it would display the wrong login screen. Without the uplink, I could access the switch as expected. It turns out that a different switch that was configured a couple of months ago still had 192.168.1.1 added (but not used) as a management network. That is, it was not deleted. This is the login screen that was coming up. I did not expect that and don't fully understand why a switch many devices away was overriding the local connection. I was also able to get access to the other switches. In all cases, it was a configuration issue, as opposed to something with the hardware.

    Hi @NEP,

Can I request the photo of the MAC address and serial number stickers of your XGS1930-28HP on its back? I will send you a private message for that.

I was able to figure this out. Turned out to be an improper config on another switch (more details in original post).
