Flex H Models Routing Protocols e.g. BGP

I am missing routing. Static and Policy is just some basic stuff.

Where are advanced routing protocols? BGP - really important since Internet standard!?

Not even RIP? OSPF?

In the old Flex 700, I had eg. BGP routing - although sadly only through the shell, but at least it was there AND working - in my case in conjunction with VTI VPN and multiple peers.
Which is needed to determine the best route in case of peer failure.

Is this not implemented yet? Is there a time frame?

I cannot find a roadmap for feature implementation, if it exists please point me in the right directions.

    Hi @AMI ,

The RIP and OSPF features for H series devices are scheduled for release in 2026, while BGP implementation has not yet been added to our roadmap.

For updates on new features and enhancements, please stay tuned to our firewall News & Releases announcements.

BGP goes hand in hand with routed VPN, so it is important.

What I cannot understand, how something as important as routing is scheduled almost 2 years from release?

From my perspective, the H series should not have been released if it is still in a state where 50% of the features in the non H series are missing. Or at least with a warning. Like in bold red, NO WLAN, NO ROUTING, NO FAILOVER and so on.

It all sounded good on paper, but honestly, your are killing it right now.

I just purchased this unit to setup a new Branch location, expecting us to use the traditional routing protocols always included in ZyXel Routers for years. We now get to migrate to a purely static environment, assign dozens of IP addresses, and input all the subnet route gateways.

Thanks for adding 2 days to my work load! Why you released a product that does not come with basic functions that have always been included is beyond me. If ZyXel believes this is good business practices, we will have to consider another manufacturer for our needs, and our customers.

    Hi @NCA_Admin1 ,

Thank you for your feedback. We are actively working on implementing features for the H firewall series. The routing feature implementation schedule is under careful evaluation, and we will inform users once it is completed.

This way it's not going to work.

It makes sense about new features: it's ok to ask if users are interested in something new, something they don't have at the moment.

It's not ok to ask if users are interested in something that worked in previous models and it has been removed in current one.

Users take for granted that new model is something better than old one. At least equal.

If someone that creates development / marketing plans, thinks that this workflow is possible:

    1. Customer buys a new product
    2. Customer finds that something is missing
    3. Customer joins to polls and votes for that feature back
    4. Customer lives without the feature, and waits
    5. After an year, the feature is released and the customer is happy

    is completely wrong.

At point 3, user is unhappy: the feature is needed now. From his or her point of view, it's like the device is broken.

Reality is: customer looks for another brand. Is this what Zyxel aims to?
