I am disappointed to read that you have no plans to implement the SMS/text reading feature, I have also hit a brick wall with my ISP EE who insist on sending codes etc via text to me to activate services and verify my details. looks like i will have to get the ladder out to remove the SIM, install in phone etc and replace, what a faf.

    Exactly !

This is what I have to do all the time. Ladder up-remove SIM-ladder down- SIM to Phone- Receive OTP (one time password) - remove SIM from phone- ladder up- Install SIM to 710- ladder down: and by the way : OTP are sometimes valid for 5 minutes only. Keeps you really busy and its finally dangerous - I was not supposed to work on the roof in the digital age.

Now, that the ISPs continue to increase the frequence of their 2-factor authentification via OTP over SMS/text - it is no fun at all.

As the 710 is designed to be an outdoor SIM router (typically roof top installed) , and a world with increasing demand of OTP via SIM card SMS/text, I need to insist on this feature to be a must have in the outdoor world, before the 710 becomes more and more useless.

    Hi.

Receiving sms is an absolute need

I get otp's and billing requests with links for bill payment from carrier.

Unfortunately is no forwarding option for sms.

This is no go. Can't use the device.

    Hi All,

I thought I would weigh in too!

We live in a rural area, which means the modem is mounted super high up on a post, to clear the tree line. I do resonate with the the other members of climbing ladders; to add, I have to bring the whole antenna pole down to access the modem, that is mounted as high up on the side of the house. Which when taking it down, will inevitable change the alignment of the antenna - Just so I can access a SMS message for 2FA… also to add. I need the mobile connection to access my O2 account, upon taking the SIM card out would disable my internet connection… which negates the mobile broadband internet connection.

Please add this feature. why is not a standard feature?

Not sure what the reasoning is for this like if someone goes and grabs your outdoor FWA710 they have your 2FA? like whats stopping them putting the SIM in a SIM free device or by it not having SMS message for 2FA then that makes you use something else like a phone?

so I guess the way forward for some people who need SMS message is to get a indoor model and run external antenna from it.

In hindsight, opting for a model with external antennas would have been wise. But here we are - invested in hardware that somehow manages to lack basic SMS support. 🤷
