XGS1930 VLAN & DHCP

Hello and good morning,

we have an XGS1930-52 here.
Two DCs (connected via GBIC) and peripherals - including a NAS - are connected.

On delivery, everything works perfectly - everything via VLAN ID 1.
As soon as VLAN is used, it gets stuck.

The two DCs are assigned a VLAN ID 51 via VMWare, communication via the gateway works.
The NAS does not receive a DHCP address from the DC, although it is tagged with a VLAN ID.
Also, access to the NAS only works in the same network segment, external access is not possible.

The HOW-To instructions on VLANs on Zyxel switches explain how to set up VLANs. Advanced Application/VLAN - VLAN ID 51, ports 49-51 are tagged (GBics), ports 21/22 (NAS) are also tagged with VLAN ID 51 (NAS supports tagging). This should at least give the NAS a DHCP address via the DCs, which does not happen, the default address is assigned (169.254.204.203).

Now you can also assign a fixed VLAN ID to ports 49-52 (Gbic) under Advenaced Application/Vlan/Vlan Configuration/Vlan Port Setup and check the VLAN Trunking box. I have also entered VLAN ID 51 for the NAS there.
Result no change, still no DHCP address is assigned.

What is the problem with the Zyxel switch - I hope you have an IDEA that leads to success.

Thank you.

Greetings
Andreas

    Hi @Flyingcroc ,

To better assist you, could you provide the following information?

    • A network topology diagram
    • The XGS1930-52 configuration file
    • Your DC model name and whether it supports and configured a DHCP server
    • Any DHCP configuration for VLAN 51
