Hi,

I am trying to communicate with a device on my LAN from the internet.

I have a static IP, and the IP listed on my routers GUI matches that visible from the internet (for example, via a 'find my ip' service).

I have attempted allowing Ping access to my network. I have:

  1. Created three Protocols:
    a) Name: PingTest

Ports/Protocol Number: ICMP: 0 /Echo-reply

b) Name: PingBack

Ports/Protocol Number: ICMP: 8/Echo-request

2. Added Access Control List Rules:

a) Source IP: Any/32

Destination IP: Any/32

Service: Ping

Action: ACCEPT

b) Source IP: Any/32

Destination IP: Any/32

Service: PingBack

Action: ACCEPT

I expected the above to allow ping interaction from the internet to my routers IP. When I ping my routers IP, I receive no response. 100% packet failure.

Could I please ask what I am missing ?

Cheers.

You need to check whether "PING" is enabled in the settings on the remote management page.

I think first you need a port forwarding for the special needed service of this LAN device and then you can test it with a ping to these ports from outside WAN .

Thankyou Liba. Unfortunately, the 'remote management' section, as mentioned in the Zyxel help manual, is not accessible in my routers GUI.
