New in Nebula 19.00: Wi-Fi Alert Insight Widget for Better Wireless Monitoring

In Nebula 19.00, Zyxel Networks introduced the Wi-Fi Alert Insight Widget — a new tool designed to give network administrators a fast, visual overview of the wireless network’s health directly from the dashboard. This feature simplifies wireless troubleshooting by consolidating key wireless health and WiFi Aid information into one easy-to-read widget.
Why Introduce Wi-Fi Alert Insight?
Before Nebula 19.00, administrators relied heavily on separate sections like Wireless Health and WiFi Aid for troubleshooting wireless issues. While these tools were powerful, they required extra steps to access and analyze. There was no single place to quickly assess the general wireless health at a glance.
The Wi-Fi Alert Insight Widget solves this by combining the most critical wireless information into one compact, customizable dashboard widget.
How to Access and Enable the Widget
- New Sites (after Nebula 19.00): The widget is enabled by default.
- Existing Sites (before Nebula 19.00):You must manually enable it:
- Go to the Dashboard.
- Click Customize.
- Enable Wi-Fi Alert Insight.
Once enabled, it appears as a ring chart widget on your dashboard.
What the Wi-Fi Alert Insight Widget Displays
The widget includes three ring charts, each providing crucial insights:
1. Poor Health Access Points (APs)
- What it shows:
- The number of APs with poor radio health.
- How it works:
- An AP is counted if it has poor status on either the 2.4GHz or 5GHz band.
- Each AP is counted once, even if it has poor quality on multiple radios.
- Clicking the Chart:
- Redirects you to the Wireless Health page for detailed AP diagnostics.
2. Poor Health Wireless Clients
- What it shows:
- The number of connected wireless clients experiencing poor health.
- Important Note:
- Clients connected using MLO (Multi-Link Operation) are currently not detected by Wireless Health and are not counted here.
- Clicking the Chart:
- Redirects you to the Wireless Health page for more detailed client information.
3. Failed Wireless Connections
- What it shows:
- The number of failed wireless connection attempts detected by WiFi Aid.
- Common Failure Causes:
- DNS resolution issues
- DHCP assignment failures
- Wireless access problems
- Important Note:
- Clients under AP models without WiFi Aid support are not included in this count.
- Clicking the Chart:
- Redirects you to the WiFi Aid monitoring page.
Why Counts Might Differ
You may notice that:
- The number of poor health clients ≠ number of failed connections.
This is normal because:
- Some APs might not support WiFi Aid.
- MLO clients are excluded from Wireless Health counts.
Thus, the totals vary depending on the client connection types and AP device models involved.
Summary
The Wi-Fi Alert Insight Widget in Nebula 19.00 gives administrators:
- Immediate visibility into AP and client health.
- Faster access to troubleshooting tools.
- Improved decision-making based on real-time wireless network insights.
If you haven’t already enabled this widget on your site, it’s a simple upgrade that can greatly enhance your daily network management!
