In the latest patch update, Zyxel Networks has expanded NTP server support on managed switches, improving time synchronization reliability and overall system stability. This enhancement allows switches to connect to multiple NTP servers, offering backup options if the primary server becomes unreachable.
What’s New?
Previous Limitation:
- Users could configure only one NTP server for their switch.
Now:
- Users can configure up to three NTP servers:
- NTP Server 1
- NTP Server 2
- NTP Server 3
How It Works
- The switch will first attempt to synchronize with NTP Server 1.
- If that server is unreachable or fails to respond:
- It will immediately switch to NTP Server 2.
- If NTP Server 2 is also unavailable:
- It will then try NTP Server 3.
Benefits
- Improved reliability for time synchronization.
- Faster failover response in case of server unavailability.
- Enhanced network uptime by preventing time-related disruptions.
To start using this feature, update your switch firmware to the latest version and configure the additional NTP servers in your switch settings.
