I get a hard drop with my wifi clients between points (NWA130BE). Any idea? Also, I am finding the range to not be very good (residential use). I think the signal is full near the AP, and then unusable about 40 feet away. One regular house wall in between. Is that typical?

The issue is that your WiFi clients aren't roaming properly between APs, causing disconnections when you move around.

Solution requirements:

1. Configure all APs with the same SSID name and security method
2. Deploy APs with 15-20% overlapping coverage between adjacent units
