USG 500 - Act as stand alone Radius server - eliminate external Radius Server possible?
Freshman Member
Can the USG 500 Firewall be its own radius server? All articles point to it working with an external Radius server. Is it possible to eliminate the external Radius server and have the USG 500 handle the 801.X authentication by itself, thus eliminating the need for an external Radius server?

Hi @SunglassesGuy ,
See if this post helps.

Thanks Dudley - Yes I did see that. I've scoured the internet for this answer. This particular post covers something a bit different than what I'm asking, but it does sound promising. Its just odd that the manual doesn't indicate this can be done, its pretty basic stuff if it can be done, which sort of tells me it cant be done, otherwise they would cover it in the manual. I will probably have to experiment on my own to see if it works. Unless someone out there has already done this. I'm running Synology boxes for my Radius servers, but it would be nice to just go straight to the USG 500 for this.
