[Nebula 19.10] Configuration Management Enhancements — Synchronization Updates

Nebula 19.10 introduces significant enhancements to the Configuration Management in Synchronization feature, providing administrators with improved control over inter-site synchronization and expanded options for switches and SSIDs.
The update adds several new synchronization capabilities, including the ability to sync Switch Port Profiles between sites and directly synchronize Switch PoE Schedules. One of the most notable improvements is the new SSID Selection feature, which allows administrators to choose specific SSIDs to synchronize rather than being forced to sync entire profiles.
However, the update also removes the Site-Wide Settings option that previously allowed copying of site-level configurations such as site names, timezones, and credentials. This removal is part of a planned redesign, with temporary alternatives including manual configuration, site settings cloning, or configuration templates. The improved site-wide settings sync is scheduled to return in version 19.20, featuring the ability to selectively choose AP-only, switch-only, or firewall-only settings.
What Changed in 19.10
(1) Port Profile & PoE Schedule Sync
The new Port Profile and PoE Schedule synchronization works intelligently by adding new profiles to target sites when no matching profile names exist, while overwriting existing profiles with matching names using the source configuration. When synced port profiles utilize PoE schedules that don’t exist in the target site, NCC automatically creates or overwrites the necessary schedules to maintain profile integrity. The system includes built-in safeguards, as each switch can only store up to five unique PoE schedules, and synchronization attempts that would exceed this limit are blocked and marked as incomplete
(2) SSID Synchronization Improvements
SSID synchronization has been significantly improved, allowing administrators to select specific SSIDs rather than synchronizing all slots. The system matches SSIDs by slot number rather than name and automatically creates missing slots in target sites. When target sites have no existing SSIDs, the system adds default profiles for empty slots and applies selected source SSIDs to corresponding slots. Important restrictions include the disabling of SSID sync options when AP Grouping is enabled, the exclusion of tags from synchronization, and the automatic disabling of Microsoft Entra ID login settings during sync to ensure each site maintains unique metadata and individual Entra application configurations.
(3) Synchronization Processing & Restrictions
The synchronization process supports one-to-many operations, allowing a single source site to sync with multiple target sites simultaneously. Large-scale synchronizations involving numerous sites require processing time, during which NCC displays "Synchronization in progress" status messages. The system enforces a single concurrent sync task per organization and provides completion status updates through the Notification Bell, indicating either complete success or incomplete status when issues such as PoE schedule limits are encountered.
To sum up, these enhancements collectively provide greater synchronization control, automatic handling of linked dependencies, flexible per-SSID management, and built-in safeguards to prevent device configuration errors.
