Hi

I have a problem with VLANs - the switch doesn't assign VLAN tags on the untagged ports.

The setup is very basic - the router with LAN port connected to the switch. Just to make sure that the router is configured correctly I tested it by connecting the client laptop ethernet port directly to LAN port. Both when client laptop is untagged and when it is set to add VLAN tag 10 it receives the expected DHCP address (Untagged - 192.168.1.X/24 and VLAN10 - 192.168.10.X/24).

The connected switch has the following settings - all others are default:

And the switch has its WebUI in both VLANS:

The router connected to port 1. Port 3 should be untagged port for VLAN10. Untagged VLAN works well on all ports 2,4-10. However, untagged client on port3 doesn't work - no DHCP, doesn't even work when I set static IP in the correct IP segment 192.168.10.1/24 and cannot ping the gateway. If I manually set VLAN tag to 10 on the client on port 3, it starts to work normally. So the problem is that it doesn't assign VLAN tag 10 on the incoming frames on port 3, despite VLAN PORT Setup. Do I need to setup something else to make it work?

Do you mean you keep port 3 as untagged and PVID 10, and set laptop adapter to tagged 10 or change port 3 to tagged 10 to make it work?

When you did the test with the laptop and set its VLAN to 10 did you you unset it to no VLAN?

is there another switch in front of the XMG1915-10E?

    Hi @pAckmAn4000,

    Welcome to the Zyxel Community!

From the images you provided, your VLAN configuration looks correct.

To investigate further, could you please check the switch’s MAC table when the issue occurs?

    Specifically, please verify:

    1. Whether Port 3 has learned the MAC address of the connected device
    2. Which VLAN ID Port 3 is associated

If possible, please provide a screenshot of the MAC table showing Port 3 during the issue.

Thank you for your cooperation—this information will help us narrow down the cause.
