If a client connects to WiFi but does not receive an IP address, the issue is usually related to DHCP availability, VLAN configuration, or AP uplink settings. Follow these quick checks:

1. Check DHCP Server

  • Make sure the DHCP server is available and reachable.
  • Verify the IP address pool is not full.

2. Check SSID & VLAN Settings

  • Ensure the SSID is mapped to the correct VLAN.
  • Verify switch ports allow the VLAN between the AP, switch, and gateway.
  • Make sure the DHCP server has a scope for this VLAN.

3. Check AP Uplink

  • Confirm the AP is can reach the client VLAN's gateway.
  • Ensure the switch port is correctly configured (access/trunk).

4. Check the Client Device

  • Ensure the device is set to obtain an IP automatically (DHCP).
  • Forget and reconnect the SSID, or toggle WiFi off/on.
