This is a feature in wireless networks that helps save battery on Wi-Fi devices such as laptops, phones, or IoT devices.
How it works:
- Your device tells the Wi-Fi router (AP = Access Point) that it wants to save power.
- The router buffers incoming data instead of sending it immediately.
- Your device wakes up periodically to receive the buffered data.
Benefits:
- Extends battery life on mobile devices.
- Common in smartphones and laptops.
Downsides:
- Slightly higher latency (delayed packets).
- Not suitable for real-time apps like gaming or video calls
