Why can’t I hide the SSID on my Zyxel WiFi 7 access point
Zyxel Employee
Starting with firmware V7.20, Zyxel Access Points operating in 802.11be (WiFi 7) mode follow updated IEEE 802.11be regulatory requirements.
Under these rules, the “Hide SSID” feature is no longer supported when the SSID is operating in WiFi 7 mode, including the 6 GHz band.
This is expected behavior and is designed to ensure compliance, security, and proper functionality with the latest WiFi 7 standards.
Workaround
If you need to use the “Hide SSID” feature, you can switch the radio mode from 802.11be (WiFi 7) to 802.11ax (WiFi 6).
Steps to change the radio mode:
Go to Configure → Access Points → Radio Settings
Locate the Radio Mode section (scroll down to the bottom table)
Change the mode from 802.11be to 802.11ax
Save the changes
After switching to WiFi 6 mode, the Hide SSID option will function normally.
