Why didn't my Nebula AP follow the firmware upgrade schedule

This behavior could be caused by the two-week Guardian Period enforced by the Nebula Control Center (NCC) for new firmware releases. Below is how the process works:

What is the Guardian Period?

  • When a new firmware version is released, NCC starts a two-week Guardian Period.
  • This period allows Zyxel to monitor early deployments and ensure firmware stability before it becomes available to all devices configured with auto-upgrade.

How does it affect auto-upgrade devices?

  • During the Guardian Period, devices with an Auto Upgrade schedule will not receive the new firmware.
  • The upgrade will occur only after the Guardian Period ends and at the next scheduled upgrade time.

Example

  • Firmware release: July 28 at 00:00 UTC+0
  • Guardian Period ends: August 11 at 00:00 UTC+0
  • If your device is scheduled to upgrade every Monday at 02:00, it will upgrade on the first Monday after August 11.

How to bypass the Guardian Period

You can upgrade immediately by using either of these options:

  1. Upgrade Now — forces an immediate firmware upgrade.
  2. Upgrade At — schedules a specific upgrade time that is not restricted by the Guardian Period.
