The SG-XXXX SSID you are seeing is Smart Mesh SSID automatically created by Zyxel access point to support mesh networking. It enables access points to discover each other and maintain mesh connectivity.
Why does this SSID appear?
- The 6 GHz band used by Wi-Fi 7 requires SSIDs to be broadcast for device discovery.
- Hidden SSIDs are not allowed in 6 GHz, and hiding them would prevent repeater APs from discovering and connecting to the root AP.
- As a result, Zyxel APs must broadcast this Smart Mesh SSID to ensure the mesh network functions properly.
How to manage this SSID?
If you are not using mesh and prefer to disable it:
- Log in to Nebula Control Center.
- Navigate to:Site-wide » Configure » Access Points » AP & port settings page
- Disable Smart Mesh functionThis is recommended only if you already have wired uplinks and do not require wireless mesh connections.
Note:Disabling mesh will prevent APs from forming wireless backhaul links. If mesh functionality is needed, keep this SSID enabled.
