Scenario

Your 5G router experiences frequent disconnections and often appears to go completely offline when the 5G signal is weak, failing to switch to a stronger 4G network.

Configuration

  1. Enable Network Monitoring:
    • Navigate to Network Setting > Broadband > Cellular WAN.
    • Enable the Network Monitoring feature.
  2. Set Preferred Access Technology to Auto Switch:
    • Go to Network Setting > Broadband > Cellular Band.
    • Set the Preferred Access Technology to NR5G-NSA/4G (Auto Switch). This attempts to automatically switch between 4G and 5G.
  3. Temporarily Switch to 4G-Only Mode for Stability:
    • If the "Auto Switch" mode does not resolve frequent disconnections due to persistently weak 5G signals, temporarily configure the device to 4G-only mode operate under Network Setting > Broadband > Cellular Band. This has proven effective in stabilizing connections when 5G is unreliable (e.g., 5G RSRP at -107 dBm compared to 4G RSRP at -69 dBm).
  4. Reposition the Device for Improved 5G Signal:
    • To enhance future 5G performance, adjust the router's physical placement or orientation. Consider raising its installation height or moving it to a location with a better line-of-sight to the 5G base station. Optimal 5G RSRP is generally -80 dBm or better.

Apply for your Router.
