Why is my access point unable to update its system time?

If your access point (AP) cannot synchronize its system time with an NTP server, verify the following requirements:

1. Allow NTP traffic through the firewall

  • UDP port 123 must be open.
  • NTP domains must be reachable:
    • *.pool.ntp.org
    • time.google.com

2. Importance of UDP port 123
NTP relies entirely on UDP port 123. If this port is blocked, the AP will be unable to update its system time—even if the NTP server is reachable.
